This will be a talk and presentation by Laila Hasan, of the Women in Hebron women's cooperative. She is currently in the UK, and will be speaking to us about life in occupied Hebron, as well as the work of the cooperative in resisting the occupation.
The cooperative was established in 2005 as a means of creating work for unemployed women in the Idna district of Hebron. They make beautiful hand-embroidered traditional and contemporary products that they sell in the Old Hebron market. In doing so, they create work and hope for some 120 women and their families. It is an inspiring story of grassroots, peaceful, resistance to oppression.
Venue: 2nd floor museum space.
Entry: Free on the door; donations welcome, to help cover our expenses.
